On Saturday, December 19th, the Wegene Youth Club held our annual Christmas Event! Even though the event was virtual this year, we were still able to continue our tradition of having this event, one that Wegene members always love. We were grateful to have Santa with us, and we had Magic Suzy join us as well. Once everyone joined the Zoom meeting, we began the event by presenting the Youth Club’s video from the Gala, which introduced the Youth Club’s mission and some of our events. We also advertised our Wegene scarves and ties.
The event began with Magic Suzy, who performed her entertaining magic show. Members got to participate in the show with Magic Suzy, which made everyone smile and laugh. After she finished, Santa began to sing songs and read stories! Santa sang ‘Jingle Bells’ and read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’. Through his interactive storytelling and cheerful manner, Santa was able to engage the audience, who loved his presence. Then, we played a video of Bethel, one of our spectacular members, performing ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’ on her violin. Every year, she performs this at the event, so we wanted to continue her performance virtually. At the end, we played a Christmas themed Kahoot game that featured holiday questions.
Through this event, we were able to interact and engage with our members once more during the holiday season! Overall, this event was very fun and lively, and I’m so happy that we were able to have a successful and enjoyable event in a virtual setting.
Thank you to those who attended, and we hope to see you at our next event, which will be a Black History Month-themed General Body Meeting on February 28.
